The DDW6.5 mid-bass/mid-range driver was designed to
deliver the widest possible bandwidth while providing a fast transient
response with high levels of long term power handling.
The cone is a composite blend of Kevlar fibre, carbon
fibre and highly dampened soft pulp in a non pressed cone body. This
combination has an excellent strength to weight ratio that is light enough
to react quickly to complex signals yet rigid enough not to flex when
subjected to extreme power levels.
The surround is a well dampened rubber half roll. The
motor structure incorporates long magnetic field technology which ensures
precise control over cone excursions and efficiently dissipates heat from
the voice coil. The voice coil former is made from Kapton with the wire
capable of enduring temperatures to 500 degrees F. A treated inverted dust
cap equalizes phase anomalies in the upper octaves which smoothes the
frequency response. The dual flat spider suspension is made from synthetic
materials to give the smoothest response and long lasting durability. The
lead wires are laminated into the layers and run across opposite sides to
even out weight over the moving system. The leads are terminated in 14 ga.
copper wire for the most efficient electrical transfer.
The DDW6.5LT is the long throw version which makes an
excellent subwoofer in space limited systems. This version uses longer
voicecoil windings on an aluminum former for increased heat dissapation.
This also makes the LT version great for high powered midbass applications.
Component set.
This consists of the DD W6.5 matched up with the
renowned Vifa D26NC05-06 1" textile dome tweeter and a passive inline
12dB/octave crossover. Both flush and angle mounting hardware is provided
for the tweeter. |
